May your memory be eternal, our brother, our sister, worthy to be deemed happy and ever to be remembered.”

Eternal Memory

GREEK ORTHODOX HYMNS & SACRED MUSIC OFFERED IN MEMORIAM

In June of 1980, I was confronted with the mystery and intimacy of death for the very first time. The loss of my husband, combined with raising a young child, suddenly exposed me to life’s uncertainty and its profound lessons.

A decade later, a new journey began at the funeral service of my father which led me back to my place of grace, solace, and sacred music. That place was the choir loft.

Offered in the spirit to uplift and transcend during such life passages, Eternal Memory, is a humble recording that presents the repertoire chanted through the years from the Ascension Cathedral choir loft.

Eternal Memory also features Ascension’s beloved organist Anna M. Counelis, who has been by my side through the years, as well as childhood friend and choral singing partner, Dr. Chris Vitakes.

Recorded in the order of the Greek Orthodox Funeral Service in Greek and English, the service music is followed by excerpts inspired for those paying their respects at such occasions.

Finally, we conclude with the recessional preference of Makaria I Odos – Blessed is the way wherein you walk today, for there is prepared for you a place of rest.

This sacred music is offered with love to all healing and mournful hearts.

     May their memory be eternal.
